Part Two: Meeting Jesus
The next evening after work, Annie races to open her Bible again. This time, she is not interested in podcasts. She wants answers, and she wants to see how the book of Hebrews plays out.
She opens the Bible to Hebrews two, finding it much faster this time with the bookmark she placed between the pages the night before.
As she reads verse by verse, Annie grows more confused. She has always been an active reader, but the Bible feels different from anything she has ever read. She understands the words, but the meaning feels locked behind a door she does not know how to open.
The same Jesus who is above the angels in chapter one is now described as being made lower than the angels for a while.
“How can both be true?” she thinks.
